Peter Jackson's vision for The Hobbit is becoming a littler clearer.Despite his character not actually being in J.R.R. Tolkien's novel, Elijah Wood will be making an appearance in Jackson's two-part Lord of the Rings prequel—which, judging by the inclusion of Frodo Baggins, will be utilizing some flash-forward/flashback storytelling along the way.
Also along for the ride, which is expected to start next month in New Zealand, is Cate Blanchett, another LOTR standout who isn't an OG Hobbit character. And there's talk that Orlando Bloom will be reprising (originating?) his role as Legolas in the new feature.
Sounds like someone wants to entice the Frodo-Galadriel-Legolas fans ahead of time.
For the main plot of The Hobbit, meanwhile, Martin Freeman is playing intrepid little burglar Bilbo Baggins. Ian Holm played the eleventy-one-year-old version in LOTR, so who knows, maybe he'll be in this one too!
