‘Dexter’ Stars Put on Happy Face for Emmys, Despite Being Separated
Jennifer Carpenter filed for divorce Thursday, three days after she and her husband and fellow “Dexter” star Michael C. Hall, announced they are divorcing. Read the papers here, in which Jennifer states they were separated weeks before they posed together at the Emmys.
The filing comes just shy of the couple’s two-year anniversary, which would have been December 31, but August 9, 2010 is listed as the date of separation. Despite being separated in early August, the two smiled as they posed together on the red carpet at the Emmys on August 29, when Hall was up for Best Actor in a Drama Series, and “Dexter” was nominated for Best Drama Series.
In the court papers, Carpenter cites irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. She asks that Hall pay her spousal support and pay for her legal fees....
EW.com reported Monday that the onscreen brother and sister’s split was amicable. The couple’s reps jointly told EW: “Having been separated for some time, Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall have filed for divorce.”
Hall announced in January that he was battling Hodgkin’s lymphoma, but Carpenter told the Associated Press in April that her husband was “fully recovered” from the disease.
Earlier this year, Hall captured a Golden Globe for playing “Dexter”’s likeable-yet-murderous title character.
